At the same time, Intro Business Analytics taught me to use data for informed decisions, mastering tools like Excel and SQL for analyzing and presenting information. Adding to these was the Team Dynamics course where I learned about team formation, roles, leadership, and conflict management, enhancing my ability to work collaboratively and lead diverse groups. These experiences equipped me with the skills to navigate the complex world of entrepreneurship.

The Foundations of Information Systems course taught me how global organizations use information systems to gain competitive advantages by integrating people, software, hardware, data, and communication technologies. Intro to Financial Statements provided a solid understanding of financial and managerial accounting, emphasizing the importance of accounting information in business decisions. The Business Ethics course explored the role of ethics in business, covering topics like corporate social responsibility and fair practices through case studies. In Business Law, I learned about the legal environment of business, focusing on contracts, liability, corporations, and property—essential knowledge for navigating business regulations. A summer internship with Ameren allowed me to apply these concepts practically by conducting meter inspections, documenting findings, and compiling reports. This hands-on experience enhanced my skills in analysis and reporting, making 2022 a year of significant growth in integrating technology, ethics, and legal considerations into my entrepreneurial pursuits.
In 2023, my tech/entrepreneurial journey took a significant step forward as I dove into more complex classes and hands-on experiences. Through courses like Programming Fundamentals, I gained a comprehensive understanding of application development, covering everything from program design to problem-solving. At the same time, courses like IT Infrastructure deepened my knowledge of computer systems and networks, equipping me with the skills needed to understand the services and capabilities of IT infrastructure solutions within organizational contexts. Courses like Database App Development and Systems Analysis and Design sharpened my abilities in data modeling and complex system development. These courses provided hands-on experience in utilizing database management systems and employing strategies for modeling intricate system requirements. System Administration introduced me to essential concepts such as managing system performance and automation, with a particular focus on Linux operating systems. Additionally, the Elementary Probability & Statistics with Spreadsheets course enhanced my analytical skills, teaching me how to apply statistical concepts to business scenarios using spreadsheets. In the middle of my academic growth, I took on the role of project director at Millikin Tabor Consulting (MTC), a student-run venture. Here, I helped customize marketing solutions for small to medium-sized businesses. Our personalized marketing recommendations and executions addressed each client’s unique needs, ranging from comprehensive strategies to targeted campaigns, driving business growth and success. Lastly, my summer internship with Ameren provided invaluable real-world experience, allowing me to apply my newfound knowledge and skills in a professional setting. I learned about planning, reconnaissance, exploitation, and result reporting, emphasizing the importance of ethical hackers in safeguarding corporate and government data. The course also covered updated computer security resources and legal aspects of hacking, ensuring a clear distinction between criminal and ethical practices. In Networks & Telecommunications, I gained insights into networking fundamentals, learning about the OSI model and the infrastructure and protocols underlying the Internet. This course equipped me with the knowledge needed to understand data transformation across different layers of the model, essential for navigating modern communication systems. Additionally, Principles of Managerial Accounting introduced decision-making concepts applicable to both service and manufacturing companies. I learned about operating leverage, cost-volume-profit analysis, and cost allocation, along with manufacturing cost flow and costing methods. Also, my internship at Capital Board Development is providing me with practical experience in the field, allowing me to apply my knowledge in a professional setting. This hands-on experience complemented my coursework, further enhancing my skills and understanding in entrepreneurship and technology.
